Medicated wipes for dogs

Submitted by Michael Adams on March 26, 2010

A medicated wipe is usually a tissue like article that has been infused with a medicated substance that is typically anti-fungal or anti-bacterial. Medicated wipes also contain alcohol based cleaning substances which is why they tend to give a sensation of cooling as the alcohol evaporates off the surface of the skin that is being wiped.

A medical wipe is used as a health care device that helps one keep the skin clean and to prevent infections and diseases from affecting the individual.

This is the same in case of animals as pet owners may use these wipes to clean their pets and protect them from infections. A medicated wipe is a preventative measure against something that is usually annoying or difficult and costly to treat.

Medicated wipes are used for dog health care as well.

In dogs, the wipes are typically marketed as wipes for the ear and surround areas. This is because dog ears tend to be greasy on the inner side and pick up lots of dirt and muck as the dog plays around and runs around. Thus, dog wipes can be used about once in every week to clean this area and remove any bacteria that may be growing there. Pet owners have found that dog wipes can also be used in other areas that are not regularly or easily cleaned. Wipes can be used to clean folds of skin where the inner surface of the fold that is not exposed to air may be a place where bacteria or infections can develop easily. Cleaning such areas will ensure that your dog does not develop any skin condition. Often the condition will become developed and will begin to spread before owners notice it and this is harmful to your dog. Skin infections form one of the primary dog health issues as dogs tend to develop rashes due to an exposed wound or due to bad hygiene.

Medicated wipes may be something that your dog enjoys. Many wipes are scented which is pleasant for owners as well. Wipes give a cooling sensation to the area on which they are applied and this is something that your dog will enjoy. Medicated wipes are not a substitute for regularly bathing your dog. You should always make sure your dog is cleaned at least twice a week and has been properly groomed so that there are no bugs on the skin.
