You should clean their eyes everyday too, and need to trim their hair whenever necessary. You also need to clean their ears daily to prevent infections.
  • Training: Cocker Spaniels can be difficult to housebreak, but can be trained in other ways easily. You might need to enrol your pet in an obedience class. Initially, Cocker Spaniels were used as gun dogs. You need to train them consistently and gently.
  • Activity: If you are planning to get a Cocker Spaniel puppy, then it would be great if you had a yard where the dog can play. If you live in an apartment, then make sure that you take your pet out for exercise daily. Cocker Spaniels are very active and need about three walks per day, unless of course, you have a yard where it can play.
Before you get a puppy home, make sure that you read enough about the breed. You should speak with other people who have Cocker Spaniels, and buy a few books about dog training and dog behavior. You can then buy a puppy from a responsible and qualified breeder or get one from a dog rescue shelter.
