Ragdoll Kittens - Information on Health Care, Adoption, Behavior, Characteristics, Colors and Cost of Ragdoll Kittens

Ragdoll kittens belong to a breed that has certain characteristic traits.

The distinct colorpoint coat and the blue eyes are what set these kittens apart from other breeds. A Ragdoll kitten’s price is also very high due to these characteristics, which are considered extremely rare and beautiful in cats. Ragdoll kittens grow into large cats that are muscular and have semi-long fur. The cats have a very silky coat and are developed by an American breeder named Ann Baker. The Ragdoll kittens are best known for their docile temperament. They are very placid and are more affectionate than other domestic cat breeds.

Ragdoll Kitten Care and Adoption

Since these cats go completely relaxed and limp, when picked up, they are known as Ragdoll cats.

Ragdoll kitten care is not very difficult. Since these cats are very docile, they do not fuss a lot and therefore, do not cause a lot of problems. If you have a family with small children, Ragdoll kitten adoption is a great idea. The docile temperament of the cats makes them extremely good as pets for children. In fact, the extreme docility of these cats has led to a belief that these cats are pain resistant.

Ragdoll Kitten Nature, Behavior and Characteristics

The nature of Ragdoll kittens is floppy and docile, and this is not always considered good for the cats. In fact, a lot of breeders believe that this trait, which has been the result of genetic mutation, is not a good one.

There have been attempts to change the Ragdoll kitten behavior and breed it out of the cats. According to the breed standards, the Ragdoll kitten characteristics should be affectionate, relaxed and intelligent. They should also be gentle and should remain easy to handle. Ragdoll kitten cost can be moderate to high, since they are a premium cat breed and are very popular as household pets. It is also one of the largest domesticate cat breeds.

Colors and Cost of Ragdoll Kitten

Physically, this cat breed has a very sturdy body with a large frame. The cat also has proportionate legs and weight considerably. The male is larger than the female. The female weights about 3.6 kg, whereas the male weighs about 6.8 kg. Ragdoll kitten colors are due to the genes for point coloration. It is these genes that are responsible for the blue colored eyes. In the show circles, the deeper the blue color of the eyes, the better is the cat. The coat of the Ragdoll kittens has long guard hairs that make for a plush coat. There is reduced shedding and matting of fur due to the absence of an undercoat. Ragdolls that are often confused with Birmans are usually larger than the latter. This is the easiest way to tell the difference between them. Also, Ragdolls have a white chin, whereas the chins of the Birmans are colored. The head shape and the boning of the heads of the two breeds are also completely different.

A Ragdoll kitten’s cost will depend on the color, the fur, and the size of the cat. There are six different colors in which Ragdolls can be obtained. These colors are seal, flame, chocolate, lilac, blue, and cream. There are different tortoiseshell patterns in which these cats come. Though all Ragdoll kittens are white, as they grow older, they assume their real colors. At the age of about 8 to 10 weeks, the kittens begin having some color in their coats. By the time, they are 3 to 4 years old, they assume their full color. The breeding restrictions in Ragdoll kittens are very strict and therefore, not all breeders can breed them. Through careful and selective breeding, the breeders try to eliminate the docility in these cats.
