Dog Care

For all people who have dogs at home, it's important to know how to take care of dog.

Most families bring puppies into their homes. These puppies are young and are usually newly separated from their moms. Therefore, they need extra care and attention. Puppy care is an important aspect of caring for your pets. Dogs give unconditional love to their families and perhaps that is the reason why their families love them with such fervor.

While most people do take care of the food and shelter of their dogs, they often forget that the dog is a living and feeling being and needs exercise, health care, and love just like humans. Dogs, who aren't taken care of properly, often suffer from various health problems both physically and mentally. It is as easy for dogs to become depressed as humans, if they are not raised in a loving and nurturing environment. If you have a pet at home, here's how you can ensure that your pet is loved and cared for as much as it deserves. These dog health care tips will help you address several issues, especially if you're a first time owner.

Just like any other infant, puppies require a lot of attention and care. These growing years are crucial to the healthy development of your dog. It is vital to ensure that your puppy is well fed (3-4 meals per day), trained (especially toilet trained), and is given all the necessary vaccines. In addition, puppies need lots of love and attention. Bear in mind that they have been separated from their mother at a very young age.

Dog Care Tips

As your puppy grows into an adult dog, there are a number of things that you need, to ensure that your precious pet is healthy and happy.

  • The first thing to do is to get your dog a comfortable collar and add an ID to it so that it doesn't get lost. On your dogs ID, note down your contact information. Maintaining hygiene is important, especially in the case of dogs that have a long coat. When they are very young, dogs should be bathed with lukewarm water in cold temperatures and cold water in summers.
  • They should be bathed at least once in two weeks. When they have matured, you can increase the frequency of the baths and give your dog a bath once every week. Do not bathe your dog everyday because they could lose their coat or their skin may become extremely dry and rough. If in between two baths, your dog gets really dirty, use a soft towel to give him/her a sponge bath. Use shampoos that are specifically made for dogs. Also remember to avoid getting water into their ears, as this can lead to serious health complications for certain breeds.
  • Dog grooming is also a very important aspect of dog care. Dogs with a long coat shed a lot of hair. Combing their hair everyday ensures it remains smooth and tangle free and also, the loose hair comes out making sure that the dog doesn't shed everywhere in your house.
  • Get your dog a thorough medical examination periodically. Fungal infections and parasitic attacks are common with dogs. Dogs may often injure their paws and the pads too. The ears and teeth need to be cleaned as well. Also ensure that your dog is vaccinated on schedule.
  • In addition to the personal grooming and checkups, give proper physical exercise and a good healthy dog food (around 2 meals per day).
