Boxweiler - Information on the Dog Breed, Breeders, Puppies and Temperament of Boxweiler Dog

The Boxweiler breed, as the name suggests, is a cross between the Boxer and the Rottweiler breeds.

This means that the Boxweiler is not a purebred, but a mix breed or a crossbreed.

Many people, including dog lovers tend to avoid keeping a boxweiler dog breed as a pet, mainly because these animals are quite large in size and look “tough”. However, in reality, boxweiler puppies and dogs can make excellent family pets, because they are loyal, loving and great with children.

Boxweiler Information and Temperament

A boxweiler dog can weigh anywhere between fifty and eighty pounds, though the female of the species are a bit smaller. Dogs belonging to this breed have some physical characteristics of both their parent breeds and therefore, they come in a variety of shades, which include brindle, black & white, white & brown and black with tan markings. Their coat is short and a bit coarse.

Being strong and powerful dogs, they require a lot of physical exercise each day. This also helps them stay in shape and use all their energy in the right manner.

Temperament wise, these dogs are friendly, active, intelligent, loyal, hardworking and very energetic. Boxweiler puppies are full of life and spunk, making them an excellent choice of pets for children. They also get along quite well with other house pets.

Moreover, these puppies are quite easy to train, as they are less headstrong, as compared to many other breeds. However, early socialization and obedience training is absolutely essential for boxweiler puppies.

Boxweiler Health

Under normal circumstances, boxweiler dogs have a lifespan of around 13 years or so, but the larger dogs have been known to have a shorter lifespan. It has also been seen that boxweiler dogs are prone to suffering from various types of cancer. However, most professional boxweiler breeders claim that with the right breeding, these health risks can be minimized. In order to reduce the chances of any health problems, it is also important for pet owners to schedule regular visits to the vet.

You may be able to pick up a puppy from most pet stores. However, it is best to get in touch with professional boxweiler breeders in order to get a healthy puppy. There is a lot of boxweiler information easily available through various sources. However, it is best for all potential pet owners to speak to professional dog breeders or preferably a vet about any health or behavioral concerns that they should be aware of, before they decide to take on a boxweiler dog as a pet.
