Cockalier Puppies, Breeders, Size and Rescue

The average cockalier size is about 30 to 40 pounds. The height of this dog breed depends very heavily on the parentage but the average height is about 12 to 15 inches.

Details on the cockalier dogs are sketchy as it is a hybrid and evolves frequently. The basics remain the same but based on the parents color, size and nature can change. The head of the dog is a typical Spaniel head with a square muzzle. This dog also has a long neck and long ears.

The cockalier dogs make good pets as they are friendly, calm and even tempered.

These dogs are also easily trained and rarely show excess aggression. Dog training needs to be regular. Though these dogs generally are calm, you can also study the parents’ temperament to understand their nature even better. These dogs are good with children and with other pets at home. These dogs aren’t single owner dogs which make them easy to have around children.

These dogs need to be regularly groomed as they have coats that demand maintenance. The actual quality of coat will depend on which parent the dog is more like so the variance can be thickness, color and curly or fine coats. These dogs also tend to shed moderately. These dogs, like their parents the Cocker Spaniel, are quite susceptible to ear infections. Additional care needs to be taken to keep their ears clean. This breed even loves water and outdoor activities. Regular walks are very beneficial to the dog.

You can find cockalier breeders online. There are also many forums where you can more information on cockalier puppies. These dogs were also used to hunt small game and love the thrill. Since they respond well to commands, Cockalier dogs can also be used in search and rescue programs especially because this breed is fond of the outdoors.

Its hybrid nature is recognized by some kennels in the world and not recognized by others.  There are many online forums with all manner of counseling and support for these dogs.
