Kemmer Feist

Kemmer Feist Dog Breed, Breeders, Puppies, Information and Training

The Kemmer Feist is a type of Feist breed, created by breeders from the United States.

The name Feist also applies to other types of dog breeds such as the Treeing Feist, Rat Terrier, Mountain Feist and Denmark Feist. The kemmer feist dog is a small sized hunting dog that hunts above ground. These dogs chase their prey up a tree and keep it cornered there until their masters arrive. Therefore these are treeing type of dogs.

However the Feist is not just a hunting dog. Kemmer feist puppies also make great family pets.

Feist dogs may be about 12-18 inches in height and weigh about 15-30 lbs. They have a soft short white coat which may also have darker patches. The coat does not require too much maintenance.

The ears are set high on the dog’s head and the nose is pointed. They have a muzzle like a terrier and some have docked tails. Kemmer Feists get along well with other dogs since they are primarily hunting dogs who hunt in packs. Feists are much calmer than other types of terriers. Dog training should begin early in case of all dog breeds and the same holds true for the Kemmer Feist. These dogs display a good deal of intelligence and require stimulation and challenge regularly so that they perform at their best.

If you are looking to buy a Kemmer Feist puppy, it is advisable to take a look at the complete litter. It is better to look somewhere else if you notice that one of the puppies appears ill. This is because it is possible that the entire litter is carrying some kind of illness. In most cases, the weakest puppy is likely to exhibit symptoms first. A healthy Kemmer Feist puppy’s eyes should be bright and clear. There should be no mucus accumulation around the eyes and ears. The coat should be clean and without any patches or sores. Usually a patchy coat may be indicative of parasites. When buying a puppy, remember to also acquire the veterinarian records. This will help when you consult your own veterinarian. One should only go to reputable kemmer feist dog breeders when planning to purchase a puppy. Reputable kemmer feist breeders test the dogs for genetic and other ailments and also prevent inbreeding. Before bringing your pet home, ensure that you have all basic supplies ready such as dishes for food and water, collar, leash, chew toys and medications in case of ticks and fleas.
