If you do not exercise them enough, they tend to become chubby. Sometimes, Oriental cats have heart defects. Oriental Cat Grooming:

These cats need a lot of grooming. If you are short on time, it is advisable to get the short-haired variety of Oriental cat. You need to brush the cat at least once a week with a brush or comb. This is necessary to keep the cat’s coat healthy and smooth. If you have a long-haired Oriental, then brush it twice a week or more. The long-haired cat has a medium length coat with a silky texture. Remember that grooming is important, especially in the summer. These cats shed their coat in the summer and warmer months and that is why grooming is very essential. Brushing removes the loose hair and this prevents hairballs.
